INDUSTRIAL LEGISLATION. PREENTION OF OVERLAPPING. Prcsa Association—-By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, June 17. A representative meeting of employers passed a motion condemning the overlapping of Federal and State industrial legislation, and calling on the Federal and State Governments to legislate to put an end to the existing complexities. MELBOURNE, June 17. The Federal Government has announced that, subject to agreement between the States, it will legislate to amend the Commonwealth industrial laws to exclude State instrumentalities. It has also agreed to amend the Constitution to incorporate a list in the Constitution of Federal industries and the principles of revision, and to provide for a tribunal representing the Commonwealth 1 and the States to revise the list at least every five, years. TROUBLE AT COKE WORKS. SYDNEY, June 18. Further trouble has arisen at tlie Lithgow Coke Works owing to the company's alleged refusal to grant the men the privileges of the recent coke industries’ awara, which included the 46-hour week. CAPTAIN STRICKLAND'S DEATH. HOBART, June id. A post mortem examination of the hotly of Captain Strickland, of the steamer Port Hacking, shows that death was due to an overdose of a drug which he was taking for illness.
