FINK ARTS COMMITTEE. The Fine* Arts Committee* (Mr _D. E. TLeomin, chairman) of the Now Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Company holds meetings regularly every fortnight, and has made progress both as regards the art gallery and the stocking of it. with works of Art from all over the world. Last, week the committee* made representations to the Consul-general for France at Auckland asking his kind offices to obtain (he collection of French works now on view in Japan. 'Flip art gallery itself will bo a building 250 ft x 66ft, having a hanging space of 10,000 square feet, besides providing ample accommodation for sculpture, elc. Tho gallery will be erected at the roar of the ex--hihit buildings, but adjacent ihereto. and will be constructed of some lire-resisling material. The question of housing photographic works is also under consideration by the Fine Arts Committee, and circular letters are being sent out to art, societies, students, and others inviting designs for the Exhibition award medal and certificate, for which (he company is offering prizes for the best designs.
