Mr Wallace also mentioned that tho picture presented by Mrs Maxwell to the club had been framed, and would be hung in the hall. Newlands, would visit Dunedin next week. lie came with a wood reputation, and the speaker hoped that the Scottish members ot the community would rally round him. The programme, which comprised some 15 items was, as usual, largely of a national character. The perlonners met with a very hearty reception, and the items were, so much appreciated that practically every cue had to bo supplemented. Ihe choir, under the oondiietorship of Mr RawImson, gave three pari, songs (“\\akcn, Lords and Ladies Gay,” “Banks of Allan Water,” and “On CVssnock Bank ), and solos were rendered by Miss Morton (“Braw, Braw Lads”), Air Stan Bisselfc (“Home o’ Aline”), Miss Reid (“Cam by Athol”), Mr A. G. Robertson (“There s a’ Wee Bit Lund”), and Miss Betty Baird (“Kind Robin Lo’es Me”). The opening bagpipe selection was played by Piper Donald Mackay, and recitations were given by Miss Frances Frye (“Keening- a Seat at tho Matinee”). Air Allan \ onng (•■Lcvinsky Buys a Ford”), ami Miss Mavis Hmit.ii. A Highland dance and an Lash jig were given by Aliss Beulah King, amt a whistle solo (“Mary of Argvle”) and a concertina solo bv Mr Peter Ramage. At the conclusion of the concert, the, hall was cleared, and dancing was indulged in tor an hour.
