OTAGO POWER BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Otago Electric Power Board was held yesterday, Mr Jasper Clark presiding, and all members of the board being present. A deputation consisting of Mr Forrester (chairman) and Mr Dalmer (engineer of the Waitaki Power Board) was received, and asked for the assistance a,nd co-operation of the Otago Board in pressing the Government to push on immediately with the erection of the main transmission line from Waipon to Oamaru, pointing out that, until some connection with tho outside sources of power was made the Waitaki Power Board were debarred from distributing power through their rural areas.—lt was resolved that the Otago Board should heartily support the proposal, and the secretary was instructed to take the necessary action. The Engineer of the board (Mr A. P. Aldridge) submitted a lengthy report upon the preliminary work to he undertaken, and made various suggestions to tho board which wore adapted. It was also decided that the Finance Committee should take steiw regarding the raising of the loan, and the chairman was empowered to cal! a special meeting should it be necessary to ratify any action. Now that the definite work of construction had begun, Mr A. P. Aldridge was appointed permanent engineer, and it was decided that the Works Committee would in future meet prior to the ordinary board meeting. The Finance Committee will also hold preliminary meetings, and the reports will be submitted to the full board.
