TAIERI PIPE BAND.

The final meeting of tlie Management Committee of the recent carnival in aid of the Tnicri Pipe Baud funds was held on Monday evening. The Mayor presided, and a balance sheet, which was presented and adopted, showed that after all expenses, including those of the social to the assistants, had been paid, the sum of £514 Os 2d stood to credit. After (he chairman hud thanked the committee, an adjournment was made to the band practice room. Before vacating the chair, the Mayor presented Messrs Smellio and M’Killop with a framed photograph of the coronation group and an inkstand each, thanked them for their energetic services, and passed on the best wishes of all the bazaar workers to these gentlemen for their future welfare. Messrs Smellie and M’Killop acknowledged the gifts. The president of the band (Mr A. Cameron) look the chair. Ho thanked all who had worked so hard and so harmoniously for the carnival, giving a special word of praise to the assistance lent by the chairman. The meeting then held a brief discussion on financial matters, the secretary mentioning that tiie sum of £350 of carnival funds was in the Savings Bank at Mosgiel. It was decided to place £SO of this, and £l5O from the balance of carnival money, on fixed deposit with the National Bank, holding the remaining £ll of the carnival proceeds in the secretary’s hands for any emergency. It wivs also decided to hold a fulldress parade next Monday, oo that all uniforms could be examined, and see what was necessary as to repair or renewal. In the past members had provided their own reeds, and the meeting hoped that in future the interest on the’ money invested would enable the committee to provide with reeds gratie. The advisability of assisting voung players to purchase sets of nines was also mentioned, and details were held over till a future meeting.
