A SETTLER’S PARADISE
PRAISE FOR NEW ZEALAND. ENGLISH OBSERVER'S VIEWS. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyrig it. LONDON, June IV. (Received June 17, at 8.40 p.m.) Mr Fenton MacPherson, in his second article, states that i\ew Zealand is an ideal country for newcomer fanners. It is difficult to realise, ho says, that the country has been developed in such a short space of time. One cannot iail to be impressed by the well laid out towns, tho splendidly equipped ports, the gigantic water power schemes, and the general use of labour-saving devices, but it is not on individual effort alone that the country depends for its prosperity. Coupled with that is the collective spirit of co-operation, which is a phenomenal feature of the economic life of the country. By the linking up of individual with co-operative efforts in production, transport, and marketing, New Zealanders are attaining a standard of efficiency which is a model to .the rest of tho Empire.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
