"HELL’S KITCHEN”
THE LID RAISED. EX-HEAVY-WEIGHT BOXER MURDERED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. NEW YORK, June 16. (Received June 16, at 9.40 p.m.) Bill Brennan, known as “Knock-out Bill,’’ a heavy-weight boxer, was shot and killed in a trajuana cabaret of which he wms the proprietor. Hames Cullen, " a State trooper, was shot in the neck while running to Brennan’s assistance. James Hughes and Frank Raoci, who are believed to be two of a band of five murderers,, are under arrest. Brennan was chatting when Hughes asked him to step outside for a moment, and shots were heard just afterwards. Brennan’s sister, an actress known as Shirley Sherman, said she ran outside and saw five men running away. The band, according to the police, are members of “Hull’s Kitchen,” and have borne a grudge against " Brennan for some time. Brennan knocked out 65 opponents, and was only knocked out by Dempsey, ’Firpo, and Miske.—Reuter.
