Nearly 250,000 persons profited by the weather forecast of a brief fine spell and visited Wembley. On Saturday 90,000 persons were present, including representatives of tho humanitarian societies, to witness tiie opening of the international rodeo. Tho spectators delightedly cheered the hair-raising exploits of -the broncho riders and lassoers, but an angry demonstration was occasioned by the steer-roping contest. When a steer’s leg was broken thousands of people ruse in their places and booed, and continued their protests for the remainder of tno performance.—A. and N.Z. Cable. PUBLIC EXCLUDED FROM CONTESTS. LONDON, June 16. (Received June 16, ut 9.40 p.m.) As 80 cowboys have entered for the steer-roping competition the contest will be decided at the Wembley Stadium in tho morning without public audiences. — A. and N.Z. Cable. AMUSEMENT EMPLOYEES. INCREASED WAGES GRANTED. LONDON, June 16. A conference of the Workers’ Union and the amusement employers at Wembley agreed to increases of wages representing generally an advance of lOs a week on tho existing minimum wage, and to other concessions.—A. and N.Z. Cable. LARGE POSTAL BUSINESS. iA)MDON, June 3. Forty officials are now required to handle tho postal business at vVenioley, which is expanding rapidly. Thirty thousand letters and postcards are despatched daily, and 1500 parcels are sent to all parts of the world weekly, lour hundred thousand commemorative exhibition stamps are sold weekly, especially to philatelists, and 60 telephone boxes produce £IOO weekly. All facilities, including marriage licenses, aro obtainable at Wembley post offices. In consequence of tho crush, the catering firm of Lyons has obtained liquor licenses for two new restaurants accommodating 750 persons.
