A FATAL COLLISION. (Feb United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, June 16. Annie Davies, wife of Thomas B. Davies, of Pup a toe toe, died yesterday from injuries sustained on Thursday. A horse driven by Mr Davies shied, and collided with a vehicle driven by N. Pennell. Mrs Davies was thrown out of tho trap, and was seriously injured. A SUDDEN CALL. (Pee United Pbess Association.) GISBORNE, June 16. Arthur Fitzwilliam, aged 65 years, a married man with three children, died suddenly, apparently from a seizure. The deceased was a foreman builder, and was on his way out to his work up tho Waimata River. Ho crossed the river on his horse, but put in no appearance on the job, and on a search being made his dead body was found. FOUND DEAD, IN A WHARK (Feb United Pbess Association.) ASHBURTON, June 16. A middle aged man named Frank Butcher was found dead in a whare at Seaficld this morning. He was hanging by a rope fixed to the roof. Deceased was unknown in the district, and had been carrying a swag and soliciting for food and shelter. A CARPENTER KILLED. (Peb United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, June 16. A carpenter named Robert Corstorphine, aged 40, while engaged in fitting the new lift at tho promises of John Court (Ltd.), Queen street, was struck by a moving carriage and killed instantly. Apparently ho was bending over observing tho extent of the clearance when he was struck on the chin. He leaves a widow and two children. WOMAN’S SAD DEATH. FOUND DROWNED IN BARREL. A married woman named Sarah Gilchrist Rankin, aged 44 years, was found drowned in a barrel of water at her home in Green Island by her son at 11 a.m. on Saturday. An inquest was held before Mr J. K. Bartholomew op Sunday morning. Dr Murray gave evidence that death was due to drowning, and subsequent evidence showed that the woman had been in a very depressed stale recently owing to the illness of her 1 itt le son. The coroner’s verdist was that death was duo to drowning, there being no evidence to show how deceased got into tho water.
