ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

The usual weekly meeting of the oxoeiilive of the O. F.A. was held last evening in the'secretary's office, Mr 11. J. Duncan (president) occupying the chair. Mr 11. Clreenyer, who was injured in the Second Grade match, Taieri v. Southern, recently, wrote thanking the association for their expression of sympathy. , In connection with the above accident, the Taieri Club advised that they were making an effort to give assistance to the pla.ver during his enforced idleness, and asked whether the association would bo willing to make a donation. —It was decided to reply that owing to the positon of the association’s finances at the present time they regretted being unable to do anything. The Southland Football Association advised that they were agreeable to [day the Peter Daw-son challenge match in Dunedin and that they expected a return visit to Invercargill from an Otago eleven.—lt was decided to reply that the challenge should go through the N.Z.F.A. and that dates would be arranged after the visit of the Chinese University team. The Secretary of the O.Tt.F.U. wrote granting the use of the Carisbrook Ground for the matches with the Chinese, and the .secretary was instructed to write thanking tho Rugby Union for their consideration. The Secretary of the Referees’ Club, replying to a query from the 0.F.A., stated that the referee rules the game, and only consults the linesman when necessary. —It was decided to forward the. letter on to tho Taieri Club. Tho Mornington Club advised that Mr G. Stanley had been appointed delegate in place of Mr G. Hall, who had resigned.— The Chairman cordially welcomed Mr Stanley, and hoped he would prove as successful in the position as his predecessor. An application for a ball as received from tho Normal School team, and it was decided to donate same. The Secretary of the High School Old Boys’ Club forwarded a clearance for W. D. Kennedy, who had applied for a transfer to Auckland.—Tho transfer was granted, and the Chairman remarked it was unfortunate that the game in Dunedin was losing such a promising player. Mr Anderson (Kaitangata) gave notice of motion for the next annual meeting that the lowest, team in the First Grade play the top team in the Second Grade, tho winners to be reduced or elevated as the case mav be. On the motion of Mr R. Brown, it was decided to write to tho N.Z.F.A. and ask whether anything has been done in the matter of tho English visit next year.
