OTAGO RUGBY UNION.

The weekly meeting of the commiltec of the Otago Rugby Union was held last evening. The president (Mr 11. H. S, White) presided. The Secretary of the Rugby Committee of the State I’riniary Scnools’ Association wrote stating that tus association would agree to meet football clubs which adopted the same practice regarding football as was adopted by the Boys’ Cricket League. In the face of its constitution and on tho motion by a general meeting, the executive could not move farther in the matter, but would encourage any club which endeavoured to form junior teams. Under tho circumstances it was not possible for tho committee to do anything to support a competition such as was .suggested by tho O.R.F.U.—'I he Chairman said it was a groat pity that the association could not form a competition.—Mr Harris suggested that the Christian Brothers bo informed, along with other schools interested, that there would be no competition.—Mr Alexander said the secondary schools would admit further teams in their competition.— tin the motion of Mr Harris it was decided to inform the Christian Brothers’ School and others interested that they would be admitted into the secondary schools’ competition. Further consideration was given to the appeal of the Zingari-Kichmond Club against Green' Island Club for playing J. elly in a Third Grade match. Jelly did not appear, as requested, but wrote stating that he failed to see how ho became a registered member of the Second Grade Zingari Glub, because he had never paid a subscription to the club and had never given authority to anyone to nominate him as a member of any club. He had never attended a practice held by the Zingari Club, and if he had been a member he asked why the club had not given him some indication of same. Had the captain of the Zingari Club mentioned the matter before ho would have , stayed out until it had been discussed.—Mr Harris said they must take it that Jelly was a member of the Zitlgari Club, and he moved that the committee rule that Jelly was a member of the Zingari Club, and that if he wished to *play for any other club he must give the necessary notice of transfer.—The motion was carried.—ln regaird to the appeal, it was decided, on the motion of Mr Woodrow, that if necessary the match be replayed at the end of the season. The Auckland Rugby Union telegraphed that it had decided to convene a special meeting of delegates [or the purpose of rescinding the resolution passed at the annual meeting in reference to the reinstated League players not being eligible for the All Blacks. It asked that (he union sign the requisition, and attend the meeting.—Members were unanimously of the opinion that it wa s too late to discuss the question, as it w r ould serve no good purpose, and on the motion of Mr Mitchell it was decided to inform the Auckland Union accordingly. The Canterbury Rugby Union submitted August 9 as a suitable date for tho junior representative match this year.—lt was decided to play the match on this date. The Secretary of the Alhambra Football Club wrote asking that a.s the University Club could not raise a second grade team on June 4, the match bo awarded to Alhambra.—lt was decided that Alhambra be awarded (he match. Mr W. B. M’Ncill. referee in the match, Dunedin v. Taieri Rovert!, wrote stating that he had ordered off O’Sullivan, captain of the Dunedin team, lor tripping an opponent. The player also wrote giving details of the occurrence.—As the referee had not given details it was decided to hold a special meeting at noon on Saturday a.t which the referee and the player would be asked to be present. The Finance Committee reported that it had gone fully into the matter of tho West Coast tour, and tho matter of correspondence from tho West Coast Unions. It had noted the dates required by those unions, and those required for their own flag matches, as well as the dates for the interprovincial matches already set down for decision in Dunedin.
