UNHAPPY RUSSIA
EXECUTION OF HIGH OFFICIALS. ominous friction with RUMANIA. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, June 14. (Received June 15, at 5.5 p.m.) The Daily Express’s Moscow correspondent states that five high court officials at Leningrad who were convicted of bribery and sentenced to death have been executed. The all-Russia central executive reprieved 12 others similarly condemned, and reduced their sentences to 10 years’ imprisonment. Mr H. G. Grecmvoll, special correspondent for the Daily express on the RussoRiimianian frontier says that Russia is waging a silent war against Rumania by midnight marches of troops and other forms of pressure and intimidatory propaganda. He expresses the opinion that this may continue indefinitely or may suddenly set the Balkans atlame. Rumania’s view is that Russia is bluffing, and is not ready for an offensive this year. —A. and N./j. Cable.
