' (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Juno 13. When the Auckland City Council in November last sold the municipal fish business to Hayr and Co. security was taken over on certain properties for the balance of tho purchase money. After being in business a little over six months Hayr and Co. have assigned their estate for the benefit of the council. The retail shops have been closed The 14-footer Iron Duke, owned by Lord Jollicoc, lias been presented to one of her crew, and will continue to race in Auckland. At the Police Court Patrick Cleary and Ernest Young were charged with breaking and entering and the theft of explosives. The evidence showed that accused hired a taxi at midnight and went to Kohimamrna and broke into a shed, from which they stole explosives. They then motored, to Ellerslic, where they left the taxi and endeavoured to enter a store and entered tho Road Board’s office. In tho meantime the taxi diiver became suspicious, and informed the police, and the accused were arrested on returning to board the, car. Clearly pleaded guilty, and was sentenced lo three months for having explosives in his possession, and was convicted and discharged for the theft of explosives, and committed for sentence for breaking and entering. Young pleaded not guilty, anu was convietd on the two summary charges, and svas committed for sentence on the others. DANNEVIRKE, Juno 13. Tho Borough Council last night, adopted loan proposals aggregating £127,816. made up of drainage, £96,728 : waterworks, gasworks, road plant. There is to be a special loan of £2OOO for the northern suburban area now included in the borough.
