The ferry sfeamer Mararoa encountered a howling southerly wind, accompanied by torrential rains shortly after leaving Pencarrow Heads last night. Although tho weather was boisterous the Mararoa made a fairly good passage, berthing at Lyttelton this morning at 9.50 o’clock-. A strong southerly wind and heavy rain prevailed on Thursday night, and snow fell on tho Cashmere Hills.
