BATCHELOR SEWING GUILD.

ANNUAL MEETING. The sixteenth annual meeting of the Batchelor Hospital Sewing Guild was held yesterday afternoon, and was presided over by Mrs J. M. Gallaway. The annual report stated, inter alia; —The guild met on three Fridays in June in the Knox Church session room. The subscribers and working members for the year numbered 44 and 33 respectively. The following is a list of garments sent to the hospital:-—Five harries, 8 babies dresses, 1 dozen flannelette squares, 1 dozen flannel squares, 1 dozen shirts, 6 knitted vests, 8 bibs, x dozen silk and wool vests, halfdozen dross overalls, and 1 dozen abdominal binders. The committee would gladly welcome now members to the guild. The balance sheet shows an expenditure of £l7 5s Id in the Hospital Board account and £2 4s fid in petty cash. The year opened with a credit baance of £29 19s 4d in the account under the Otago Hospital Board and closed with a credit balance of £22 16s lid. The petty cash opened with a credit balance of 10s and closed with one of 15s. The report was adopted on (ho motion of M/s Gallaway. .Miss Every, matron of the Batchelor Hospital, in the course of a few remarks, said it w r as interesting to note the' appreciation shown by various sections of the community towards the Batchelor Hospital, especially in the case of mothers of families. For the year ended March 31 last out of 172 patients confined, 151 had been married women. Many of them were expationts. They were seldom without some of their old patients, and three of those treated lately were mothers of 10 children, and had been in the homo eight times. Miss Every drew attention to the fact thaf there was a weekly clinic in connection with the hospital for mothers specially, with the object of imparting information as to motherhood. The following office-bearers wore appointed;—President, Mrs J. M. Gallaway; vice-president, Mrs Cameron; hon. secretary, Mrs O’Neill; and committee—Lady Xtoss, .liesda-mes Loudon, Ewing, Riley, R. Rbchie, Waddell Smith, Falconer, and Miss Williams.
