CHARGE OF FORGERY.
POSTAL CLERK INVOLVED. (Pee United Peers Association.) AUCKLAND, April 14. At the Police Court Alexander Linton, aged 42, a clerk in the Post Office Savings Bank, Auckland, was charged with forging a withdrawal slip in the name of Edward Knowles, and obtaining £IOO ihereby. The evidence showed that the book had been left at the bank by a depositor for interest to be made out. and a withdrawal slip for £l9O bad been presented by someone unknown to the paying clerk. The evidence showed a similarity between (he dip and the accused’s writing. Tho accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial.
