QUESTION OF ADMINIS- ; TRATION. STATEMENT BY AIR JUSTICE FRAZER. (Peb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 1. A request thit the Arbitration Court should make an order that the employers and employees should sot up committees for the purpose of going into the question of controlling the Apprentices Act, 1923, was made to-day by Air I'. Cornwall, representing the workers. : Mr Justice Frazer said that the Act ' only came into operation to-day. and they oould not rush the employers and workers Into forming committees straight away. ■However, the court was very desirous that «11 parties should form their own committees, which should consist of sound, moderate men of both sides who would look at i the- matter from a broad-minded point of view. They should take into consideration the- welfare of the particular industry ;i .which they renresented and the welfare ot > the buys- The committees would be 1 largely responsible for the successful ad- ' rministration of the Act, as all the court could do was to make any regulations that ' would be necessary. Spade work and the ‘ work of maintenance would have to be none by members of" the committees. ‘ It was agreed that the whole question of the administration of the Act be discussed before the court op Wednesday of next week. Hig Honor said that the Act did not confer on the court any power to hold such sitting, but it was thought desirable that they should have an informal discussion in order to give consideration to the i proposed draft orders governing the conditions of apprenticeship in the various industries.
