TIMARU WOOL SALES.
LARGE ATTENDANCE OF BUYERS. {Peb Unite/i FHE3B Association.) TIMARU. December 18. The first •wool sale of the season was held yesterday, when 13,771 bales were offered. There was a large attendance of buyers, representing Bradford, America, i'ranca, Belgium, and Germany, besides Uie dominion woollen mills and local scourers. The wool opened out in better condition than, usual. It consisted principally of fine medium crossbreds, with a few backcountry merino clips which carried a fair amount of condition. The South Canterbury super halfbreds did not compare favourably with the North Canterbury clips, the latter being bettor grown and showing more quality and brighter condition.
