INTERNATIONAL ATHLETICS
ARRANGEMENTS AT WEMBLEY STADIUM. ACCOMMODATING VISITING ATHLETES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 15. (Received Dec. 16, at 5.5 p.m.) The British Olympia Association, in its annual report, states that the French committee recently decided to build an Olympic village adjacent to the Stadium for housing athletes. The Association agreed to support the scheme if it found it sound and practicable. The dominions also expressed a desire to participate. When, however, the Housing Committee realised that a number of leading countries had decided to accommodate their athletes in hotels and chateaux, and also that the French committee was not making itsplf responsible for building the village, it was decided to abandon the scheme. Accordingly excellent accommodation was found. The Association has also written to the dominions offering to do everything in its power to assist them in finding accommodation. The report adds that the dominions heartily agreed to the proposal that the Mother Country and the dominions should enter the Stadium on the opening day as one great Empire team, even if they had subsequently to compete as separate nations.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
