TAEAJMAKI v. N.'S. WALES* HONOURS EVEN. (Peb United Panes Association.! NEW PLYMOUTH. December 15., The tennis match between Taranaki undi New South Wales was played to-day,' in. the presence of a large attendance. ' Tha courts were in good order, and the weathat was fine, though in the morning a wind caused a little trouble. The play thi;ough r out was very interesting, and at the close oi the day honours were even, each 'side having won five matches and 11 sets, tha visitors having the advantage of three games, their tally being 109 to Taranaki's 106. Some brilliant tennis was : . witnessed, especially in the doubles, a feature b&injr tho performance of Reid and Spike, who upheld their reputation of being the mostpromising doubles players in New South Wales, by winning their three matches, beating the champion pair. Wallace and Dickie, in two straight sets, and Webster and Nicholson by two love sets. Wallace accounted for Peach somewhat comfortably «n tho singles, while Nicholson did likewise to Goodman. Poulton, after a strenuous game, defeated Webster, the match, run-, ning into three sets. Results: Singles.—Peach lost to A. J. Wallace, 4—6; K. I/. Poulton beat G. B. Webster, 6—B. 13—11. 6—2; R. J.
