MB HEBTZOG’S PESSIMISM. ATTACK OK GENERAL SMUTS. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyrigit CAPETOWN, December 9. Speaking at Smilhlield, Mr Hertzog bitterly attacked General Smuts in connection with his speech on the European situation. Re said that the Prime Munster’s policy tended to provoke another European “war, which was plainly impending. It was quite clear that General Smuts was willing to allow South Africa to participate. Mr Hertzog warned his supporters to be frugal and to pay their debts, so that there would be money for food when war came.—A. and N.Z. Cable. ■
