“THE CABARET GIRL.”

The J. C. Williamson Company’s new play, “The Cabaret Girl,” has experienced a remarkably successful season in Dunedin and last night the final performance was given in His Majesty’s Theatre, the audience on this occasion being quite as large and appreciative as those on the preceding nights. To-night “Kissing Time” will be presented, and the reputation established by its predecessor should prove sufficient attraction for full audiences. “klssing TIME,” To-night, at His Majesty’s Theatre, the J. C. Williamson New English Musical Comedy Company will present for the first time to playgoers of Dunedin the picturesque comic opera, “Kissing Time.” A full lighting and scenery rehearsal was staged yesterday under (ho personal supervision of Mr Harry B. Bnrcher, so playgoers may look forward to a replica of the splendid performances of this opera which were recently staged in Wellington and Christchurch, where crowded audiences enjoyed the piece, which ran for upwards of three consecutive years at the London Winter Garden Theatre. Seats may be reserved at the Bristol until raid-day, and afterwards the plans will be on view at the Geyser confectionery shop. “Kissing Time” is noted in Australia for the fact that it beat the records established in Sydney and Melbourne by “The Maid of the Mountains.” The music of “Kissing Time” is said to be deliciously tuneful and the interest in the love story is maintained right up to the final fall of the curtain." A feature of the production is the genuine comedy scenes, in which Mr Alfred Frith and his confederates simply revel. -The author has presented them with unlimited scope, and the fun is fast and furious from beginning to end. Mr Frith is one of the most popular comedians the New' Zealand stage has known. In the character of St. Pol he is in his best and most humorous mood. Mr Cecil Kellaway receives his best chance in “Kissing Time,” and it is generally conceded that his characterisation of Colonel Bellinger is the best thing ho.has done. Dainty and delightful Miss Madge Elliott has won her way into the affections of playgoers by her sweetness and * her grace, and she now ranks with the best and most popular comediennes the Australian stage has produced. In “Kissing Time” she receives every opportunity to display her gifts as a dancer and actress and the music allotted her role is well within the range of her charming soprano voice. Miss Floie Allan, Miss Nellie Payne, Miss Mario Eaton are all in the cast. Mr Cyril Ritchnrds has scored his best triumph as Max Touquet, and Mr Field Fisher’s characterisation of Brochard is one of the gems of the opera. It is said that the dance presented by Mr Jack Hooker and Miss Rita Nugent is one of the most sensational yet seen in musical comedy. Madge Elljott and Mr Cyril Ritchards will present their latest dance creation. Only the two representations can be staged of “Kissing Time,” as the company will leave on Tuesday for the north,
