The Daily Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent says; “The first response to Herr Albert’s proclamation came from the leaders of the Democratic, Centre, and Social Democratic Parties, who conferred with Dr Stresemann upon the advisability of enrolling youthful upholders of the Republic for voluntary service. They eventually decided against the scheme. Dr Stresemann expressing complete confidence in the Reichswehr’s loyalty to the Republic. Nevertheless, the Democratic Party issued an appeal stating that conspirators were threatening the internal peace and the maintenance of constitutional conditions in Germany, and that the Republicans and Democrats would see to it that such attacks were broken. If the Government found it necessary to strengthen the army or the police for the protection of the Republic, all Democrats trained to arms would be expected to answer the call. “The Social Democrats also broadcasted an appeal declaring that those who had not recognised that the conspirators were determined to fight were hiding their heads in the sands. (Received Nov. 8, at 5.5 p.m.) The Daily Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent says that tho concentrations of the Reichswehr on the Saxony and Thuringia frontiers have already checked the Bavarian Irregulars. The movements of the latter are now mainly occupied with trying to unify the divergent aims of the leaders whose ardour has been cooled by the proof that the central Government does not intend to take the attacks against the Republic lying down. The authorities here have gained the upper hand against the looters, of whom 550 have been arrested.—A. and N.Z. Cable. ALLIED MILITARY CONTROt. ITS RESUMPTION DEMANDED. PARIS, November 7. A message from Berlin says that, in pursuance of the decision mentioned on October 30, the Ambassadors’ Conference has handed a Note categorically demanding the immediate resumption of military supervision by the Inter;Allied Mission, the officers of which shall execute their duties in uniform, the operations to extend throughout the country, including Bavaria. The Note specifies the coercive measures to be employed by all the Allies unless their demands are immediately complied with.—Reuter.
