EMPIRE WIRELESS
SUBJECT BEFORE CONFERENCE. IMPATIENCE WITH DELAYS, ■«a« Association —By T-»legr*ph— Copyright LONDON, November 6. ' (Received Nov. /, at 8.25 p.m.) At the Economic Conference to-day the Empire Press Union proposed that the establishment of wifeless communication with Australia should be discussed before the conference dispersed. Mi - Bruce, in an interview on the subject, said it was his express intention to force matters (to a definite conclusion one way or the other. He ,apparently has little hope that the differences between the British Post Office and Marconi's can be bridged over. Nevertheless, he is insistent that the imperative needs in regard to Empire wireless communication should not be sacrificed to a quarrel of the existing nature. Mr Massey also intends to bring the subject up before the Conference closes.— A. and N.Z. Cable. A POLICY OF MUDDLE. DAILY TELEGRAPH’S COMMENT. LONDON, November I. (Received Nov. I, at 8 p.m.) The Daily Telegraph, in a strong editorial entitled “ The Wireless Chain Muddle,” declares that if the Imperial Conference disperses without unequivocal assurances it will commit a grave act of omission. Tho dominion Prime Ministers are obviously entitled to express their views on the impasse between the Post Office and the Marconi Company since it is hindering all their efforts to link the Empire. “ If they were to speak frankly, says the paper, “ they would tell us that they had no faith in Post Office administration. It is not conducted on commercial lines, and the recommendations of the Cecil Committee have been ignored. The Imperial Conference ought to inquire searchingly into the cause of the present impasse.”—A. and N.Z. Cable.
