CITY POLICE COURT.
Tuesday, October 23. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Drunkenness. —A first offender who appeared and pleaded guilty was fined 10s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, and another offender, a female, who did nob appear, was fined 20s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. Attempted Suicide. —Sylvia King (Mr J. B. Callan) appeared to answer a charge of attempted suicide. She was also charged with drunkenness.—Senior-sergeant MathieEon said that the accused was arrested for drunkenness on Monday and had attempted to strangle herself while in a cell at the police station. He applied for a remand for a week for medical observation,, The remand was granted. Obscene Language.—Samuel Rollinson was fined £5 and witnesses’ expenses (£1), for using obscene language within the hearing of passers by in King street.—Senior-ser-geant Mathieson said that the accused had used the language complained of in (he presence of females. When arrested ho resisted violently.
