REPORTS GREATLY EXAGGERATED Proca At*oci*tion —By Telegraph—Copytlga> CAPETOWN, October 22 'The Prime Minister’s Office has issued a statement announcing that the reports which have been appearing in the British press that the drought in South Africa is the worst experienced tor 40 years and that the cattle are dying like Hie*and the ground ’s :overcd with locusts, are greatly exaggerated. The statement admits that the drought is severe in certain parts, but the raiu, season is beginning. There has been a serious visitation of locusts, but the Government is confident that t will be able to cope successfully with the pest.—A. and N.z,. Cable.
