PROTECTION OF PRIVATE HOTELKEEPERS. \ (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 11. The Hon. C. J. Parr (Minister of Justice), in reply to a deputation, of private hotelkeepers, said that if they were willing to assume publicans’ responsibilities he would be prepared to recommend legislation protecting them from unscrupulous people. The deputation pointed out that publicans were allowed to sell by auction goods left behind by defaulting guests, but the private hotelkeeper was debarred from this privilege. The deputation undertook to ascertain the opinions of private hotelkeepers in other parts.
