Messrs Dalgety and Co. report having received the following cablegram from their head office, dated London, October 11: At the tallow sales 1190 casks tallow were offered, and 190 casks sold. Alutton tallow firm; scarcely any demand for low and inferior qualities, nominally 6d per cwt. lower. LONDON WHEAT MARKET. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, October 10. (Received Oct. 11, at 7.40 p.m.) Wheat cargoes are depressed by tho American decline and the absence of British and Continental demand. Quotations are slightly lower. Parcels are in quiet demand at 6d to 9d lower.—A. and N.Z. Cable. OTAGO AXUTUAL STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY. A meeting of members of the Otago Mutual Starr-Bowkett Society was held last evening at the secretary’s (Mr H. F. Ai. Mercer) office for the purpose of disposing of two loans of £SOO each. Air AV. H. Adams (chairman of directors) presided. The premium loan of £SOO at 2 per cent, in the No. 2 group was drawn by cluster No. 156. The free loan of £SOO in the No. 3 group was drawn by cluster No. 2, held by one member. A number of shares in the No. 3 group have been taken up since last meeting.
