AVIATION.
INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OPENED. FACTOR IN UNIVERSAL GOOD-WILL Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 25. The Prince of Wales opened the International Air Congress at the Civil Engineers’ Institute. Representatives of foreign nations and of the dominions were present. The Prince said that if ever there was a branch of human knowledge which was essentially international in character, it was the science of aeronautics. The effect of the immensely-increased speed of locomotion in an element that was independent of the Customs frontiers cm land and water must be very beneficial to the growth of international good feeling. The Duke of Sutherland (Under-Secre-tary of State for Air), who inaugurated the congress, said he believed that aviation as it existed to-day would become a potent factor in promoting a spirit of camaraderie between all nations. This was the purpose which the conference aimed at achieving; but success would be possible only by Government support and the patriotism of private citizens and wealthy and influential companies.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
