The Gale, from Lyttelton, ia due here on Friday and is to sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui The Government steamer Tutanekai visited Somes Island and Penoaxrow Head lighthous Q bn Thursday. On Friday morning she left Wellington for all Cook Strait lighthouses from Cape Campbell to Farewell Spit. She will be away from Wellington for about a week. The S.S. and A. Line steamer Tairoa is to leave Wellington on Friday for Lyttelton to complete Homeward loading, and ia to sail on June 30 for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Kembla is to leave Wellington on Saturday for Lyttelton to complete loading, and ia to sail on July 6 for London. Advice has been received in Wellington that the steamer El Kantara, which ieC inaugurating the service between France and New Caledonia, is expected to arrive at Wellington on July 12. • LING NAM’S RETURN. The Huddart-Parker Company announces that the Chinese steamer Ling Nam is expected back at Wellington about July 11 from South American porta. She will probably sail the same day for Hongkong, via Australian ports, Manila, and Tarkow. WAITOMO TO LOAD PHOSPHATES. The Union freighter Waitomo, after bunkering at Newcastle, sailed for Nauru Island on June IS to load a cargo of phosphates for Auckland. CUMBERLAND FOR DISCHARGE. The Federal steamer Cumberland is due at Auckland from Liverpool about July 1. She sailed from Liverpool in May, and cleared Panama on June 5. She will be followed by the Canadian Scottish, Bailing for Auckland and Sydney on August 25. CARGO PROM PACIFIC SLOPE. The steamer Las Vegas, of the Swayno and Hoyt Line, en route from Humbolt uay, Gray’s Harbour, and San Francisco, is expected to leave Los Angeles shortly with cargo to unload] at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Newcastle. The California, the third of the Cunard line’s new oil-burning Atlantic liners, was launched at Glasgow on April 17. The California is similar in construction to the Cameronia and Tuscania. The steamer Monrilyan, which has been purchased by the Northern Steamship Company for the Whangaroi service, arrived at Auckland early yesterday morning. This steamer, which is the largest ever owned by the Northern Company, is a twin-screw vessel of 1349 tens, designed for passenger and cargo carriage. Her speed is estimated to be about 13 knots. She has accommodation for at least 200 passengers, and features of her construction are her twin funnels. - » » THE INTERCOLONIAL SERVICE. The following are the latest movements of vessels in the intercolonial service; The Tahiti left Wellington yesterday for Rarotonga, Papeete, and San Francisco. The Manama, from Sydney, which arrived at Auckland yesterday, is to sail on Friday on the return voyage. The Ulimaroa, from Sydney, is due at Wellington to-day, and is to sail on Friday on the return voyage. The Manuka is to leave Sydney on Friday for Auckland, where she is duo on July 3. The Wairuna left Newcastle on Saturday, June 16, for Fanning Island, Vancouver, and San Francisco. She will load at Pacific Coast ports during July for Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney.
