MASTERY OF THE AIR
THE BRENNAN HELICOPTER. TESTS ELATE EXPERTS. LONDON, June 8. The aeronautical expert of the London Star publishes the information that successful results have been attained in the development of the helicopter, or hovering aeroplanes, upon which Mr Louis Brennan, the Australian inventor, has been working for some years. In a test at Farnborough the helicopter ascended 20ft, and hdvered there for nearly a quarter of an hour, carrying passengers and military equipment, having a total weight of 10001 b, Throughout the experiments, the helicopter was under perfect control. British aerial experts are highly elated at the results of the trial, and declare that Britain is still well ahead of all competitors in retaining the mastery of the air. The secrets of the helicopter’s construction are being closely guarded, and the workshops at the Farnborough airship sheds are kept under constant surveillance. A photograph of an American helicopter, for which remarkable claims have been made, has been pronounced by experts to be a fake.
