As houses more than six storeys high are taboo, the new sky-scraper could not be begun until a special law was passed in its favour. Even then, this “new monstrosity,” as the antiskyscrapers call it, is a modest thing only 12 floors at the best, or worst. —With the exception of fishing vessels, yachts and barges, all British vessels arc required to have their names on each bow in letters four inches high.
