“FATHER” OF COMMONS
T. ,P. O'CONNOR HONOURED. LONDON, May 16. On the occasion of his seventy-fifth birthday recently, Mr T. P. O'Connor, "fa.thsr" of the House of Commons, was honoured by 300 members, representing all parties. Mr O'Connor was presented with a gold snuff box. The speakers included Mr Stanley Baldwin, Mr Lloyd George, Mr Asquith, and Mr Ramsay Macdonald. * Replying, Mr O'Connor said that his long life was lue to the habit of retiring at 4 o'clock in the morning and rising at noon. His long political life was due to an innocent, loyal, and confiding constituency.
