OTAGO RUGBY UNION. The weekly meeting of the Otago Rugby Union was held last night. The president (Mr W. J. Wilson) occupied the chair. An application from W. Blagdon for a transfer from the Zingurb fo the Y.M.C.A. was declined, as the Y.M.C.A. team is playing in a lower grade. It was decided to endorse the recommendation of the Vincent Sub-union that the disqualification imposed on Noble, an Alexandra player, should be removed. The application will be forwarded to the New Zealand Union for favourable consideration.

W. D. Allan'wrote applying for a transfer from the Taiori Hovers Club to the Pirates Club, the transfer to take effect from the beginning of next season. Allan stated that his reason for applying for a transfer was 1 that he found it too far to travel to the Taieri every second Saturday from Portobcllo. —The question arose whether Allan had been a resident of Portobello when ho joined Taieri Rovers, and the request was held over ponding a reply from Allan on this point. W. Rennick, referee in the Pirates and Southern second match, reported having ordered off C. O. B. Cooper, of 1 he- Southern team, for attempting to strike an opposing player.—Tbo referee and the player appeared before the committee. The referee said that he had spoken to Cooper for “talking” in the first spell, and had ordered him off in the second spoil. He had been putting the ball in the scrum himself, and a moment or two later he discovered that Cooper had conic back to the field of play and was taking part in the game. He stopped tho game and again ordered Cooper off. Cooper then told him to go to h ——I and walked off. Cooper said that ho was going to Wellington on Thursday, and it was the last game he would play in Dunedin. Ho admitted having attempted to strike the Pirates man, but he had drawn hack his hand. — Mr White moved that the player stand down, for four playing Saturdays.—The motion lapsed for want of a seconder.—Mr Bagley moved that the player be disqualified till the end of the season.—Mr Stycho seconded tho motion.—Mr Wootton moved as an amendment that the player be placed on tho cautioned list. —The amendment lapsed for want of a seconder.—Mr Stuart said that ho thought the player had committed a serious offence in not going off when ordered to do so. Ho had then further accentuated his offence by using insulting language to the referee. —Mr Mitchell said that ho also considered that the player had seriously offended by speaking to the referee as he had. He said that it was a matter tor regret if, as was stated, many players, including senior men, so far forgot themselves, as to use foul language during the course of matches,-tTJig motion was carried. An application from the Southern Club to be allowed to enter another team in the Fourth Grade competition was referred to the Flag Committee. F. Percy was granted a transfer from the Port Chalmers Club to tho Kaikorai Club. , . , The secretary reported that the takings at the Carisbrook Ground on Saturday had amounted to £202 15s 9d—a record for a first round match in Dunedin. The takings at the Caledonian ground, after deducting expenses, showed a loss of Is lid. It was decided to trim off branches on tho bluegum trees on the OarisbrookGround. It was stated that boys climbed these trees and annoyed spectators at the Saturday matches.
