ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL DAY. CARR AGAIN DEFEATED. " (Pes United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, March 3.; Considerable interest was taken in thai meeting of Carr and Kirksey at an athletia gathering in the Domain to-day. The conditions were almost perfect, and the attendance numbered about 5000. The Americana again triumphed, winning the sprint invitation races and all the field events, 'while their crack hurdler just failed to ccmceda. a promising local runrjer a substantial start. In the 100 Yards Handicap, Kirksey, although he was beaten in his heat) won the final. This effort showed that he had not lost form since his defeat of Carr afi Wellington last week, and when the Australian and Tracey, of Wellington, came oufl to oppose him in the 100 Yards Invitation! Race it was generally anticipated that Kirksey would win. Carr was showing the effects of his injury at Cambridge on Thursday, but he got out of the holes" quicker thai; his opponents, and with 75 yards covered had a slight advantage of Kirksey, with!
