BRITAIN’S EXPORTS, A STEADY RECOVERY. Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 1. Sir W. Joynson-Kicks, in addressing the Southampton Chamber of Commerce, said that Groat Britain’s export trade was £300,000,000 down compared with 1915, but the revival which began last autumn was slowly and steadily progressing, and 1923 would show considerably improved figures. Alluding to German shipbuilding, the Minister said that Germany was not a poor country. Some people imagined that she would soon be a serious competitor for the world’s shipping.—A. and N.Z. Cable. DEVELOPMENT .OF TRADE. EMPIRE CONFERENCE SUGGESTED. LONDON. March 1. Mr Bonar Law, replying in the House of Commons, said that negotiations were proceeding between the Government and the dominions in regard to an Empire Conference to discuss trade development.
