Mr F. Z. Moore returned from the Home Country on Wednesday night. St. Raul’s Presbyterian Church, Kaiapoi, has given a call to the Rev. F. Robertson, 8.A., of Wellington. . A London Press Association cable message announces that Mr W. Elmslie, assistant director of the Overseas Trade Departmont, has been appointed Trade Commissioner in New Zealand. He spent 12 years in the engineering profession, including four in Australia, Ho served in the war (191418) and then became section director in the Ministry of Munitions. He will sail for New Zealand on March 3. Mr G. H. Holford, B. Agric., who for tho past six years has been head of one of the departments of the New Zealand Fanners* Co-operative Association, has been appointed South Island representative of the Now Zealand Fanner. Mr John Mac Gibbon will take over the management of the Christchurch branch of the Bank of New Zealand during the absence of (he manager (Mr G. A. U. Tapper), who left to-day for England on a holiday. Mr Mac Gibbon was for some lime accountant at the Christchurch branch, and a few years ago he was appointed inspector. Mr Spencer H. Gollan, well known in New Zealand sporting and athletic circles some years ago, left Auckland by the Uhniaroa last week for Sydney, en route for England. Mr Gollan, who was formerly a large ruiiholder in Hawke s Bay, took up his residence in over 20 years ago, and was a prominent, figure on the turf. He has just' concluded a six weeks’ visit to the dominion. , At a meeting of the Otago Harbour Board yesterday, (bo chairman (Mr H. C. Campbell) took the opportunity to bid farewell to Mr J. A. Robert*-, who, with Mrs Roberts, will leave shortly on a visit to the United Kingdom and the Continent. Mr Campbell wished Mr and Mrs Roberta a pleasant trip, and also expressed the opinion that the information gained by Mr Roberts on his travels would be of distinct value to the board and to tho community generally. Members endorsed the chairman’s remarks, and Mr Roberts, on behalf of Mrs Roberts and himself, made a suitable response.
