The Comptroller of Currency, in his annual report to Congress, states that America is justified in hoping that in the near future there will be a cessation of gold imports. When that point is reached a long step will have been taken towards the restoration of the world’s economic equilibrium. The report states that the United States holds virtually half tne world’s stock of gold, and “the situation is now less unfortunate for us than it is for other countries to have their stocKS so badly depleted.”—A. and N.Z.
