(Received Jan. 16, at 8.5 p.m.) A Court Circular states; It is with the greatest pleasure that the King and Queen announce the betrothal of their beloved son, Duke of York, to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, daughter of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, to which union the King has gladly given his consent. —A. and N.Z. Cable. [Albert Frederick Arthur George, Duke of York, is the King’s second son. He celebrated his 27th birthday on December 14. The earldom of Strathmore was created in 1C77, and the present earl is the 14th holder of the title. Ho is also Baron Glands (title created 1445). The family seals are Glands Castle, Forfarshire, and Streatham Castle, Darlington, Durham. Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was born on August 4, 1000. She was one of Princess Mary's bridesmaids last year.]
