• It is stated in tho annual report of;the committee of the Dunedin Athemßum that tho receipts for the past year from all sources amounted to £2175 Os 9d, and the expenditure to £2llß Is Od. Tho debit balance, which at the close cf 1921 was £ll6 10s 3d, was converted into a credit balance of £56 19s 9d. The sum of c £3lO was expended in the purchase of books, as against £221 during 1921. The cost of magazines and newspapers for the year was £coo 5s ICd, as against; £3lO 17s 9d for the previous year. Tho average membership for the year was 2067, as against 2034 for the previous year. The library now contains 27,323 works, represented by 51,20j3 volumes. During the year 173 volumes were withdrawn from the library and offered for sale to members and others. The accessions numbered 890 works (in 911 volumes), of which 549 were works of fiction and 341 works in other, departments of literature. The total number of issues cf books from are library during the year was 75,206.
