(Pteceivcd Jan. 15, at 0.20 a.m.) Because the papal delegate to Mexico, Fillipi, unveiled a statue of Christ in.the open air (the event being attended by thousands of Mexicans) and thus violated a lawt of 1357, which forbids the celebration in the open air or in public places of religious ceremonies, President Obregon uttered a warning, declaring: “We make no discriminations between the religion of Protestants and others. If they violate the laws the Government will proceed in tho same way against them. Mexicans will be punished and foreigners deported.” He called Fillipi a pernicious foreigner.
