The Palestine census shows 589,564 Moslems, 83,794 Jews, 73,026 Christians, 7028 Druses, and 1454 Hindus; total, 755,858. The Duke of Devonshire (Colonial Secretary) saw a delegation at the Colonial Office, which asked that Lord Balfour’s declaration regarding Palestine should be abrogated and a system of responsible government inaugurated. The Duke of Devonshire replied that the Government would consider the question, but he could not hold out the hope that there would be any departure from the late Government’s policy in Palestine.—A. and N.Z.
