OPOHO TRAMWAY
PROSPECTS OF WORK PROCEEDING. There has been considerable criticism of the City Council by “the man in the street.” of late because ns yet there has been no definite move to proceed with the Opoho tramway. The council being the authority, it is not altogether surprising that it lias been looked on by the general public as the party responsible for the delay, but those within know that the blame (if such it may be called) might bo laid at'other doors. When in Wellington, the Mayor (Mr J. S. Douglas) interviewed the Chief Public Works Engineer on the matter, and it is understood that the main obstacles in the way have been removed in consequence of the interview. The matter will. go before the council at its next meeting, when it will probably bo decided to forward an application for an Order-in-Council authorising the extension.
