FUNDING WAR DEBTS
NEGOTIATIONS IN AMERICA. .'reas Association —By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, January 10, (Received Jan. 11, at 8.35 p.m). Tho Senate Finance Committee has begun the consideration of a Bill, which was introduced by Senator Harris, authorising President Harding to appoint three Democrat members to the American Debt Commission, which is at present composed exclusively of Republicans. The Republican leaders wish that the responsibility for tho commission’s directions should be shared by both parties. Mr Mellon (Secretary of the Treasury) sent a letter to the committee disapproving of increasing the commission's membership on the ground that it would become cumbersome. The British and American Debt Commissions held a long session to-day, going over the British statement of their financial position, and began consideration of the terms upon yvhich the debt can be funded, without an unduly severe disturbance of industry or commerce. The meeting was private. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
