THE DOMINION TOURNAMENT. THE OrUMNG DAY. (Pee United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 10. The tenth dominion of New Zealand bowling tournament opened to-day with the Singles, 10 greens being utilised. Of the 600 bowlers taking part. 186 entered for tho Singles, 200 for the Pairs, and 756 in the rink games. A drizzle in the morning somewhat delayed the start, and made the greens heavy, but the afternoon was fine, and the greens played perfectly, though on the exposed greens tho wind proved troublesome. Play throughout was of a high standard, and many good games were witnessed. , , Mr W. Coltman (president of the New Zealand Association) officially opened the tournament, welcoming the visitors. The Singles were played under the twolifo system. The following had no losses in tho live rounds played to-day:— Section A.—Addison (Rooky Nook). Section D. —Masefield (Waihi) and Scantlebury (Auckland). Section D.—Casey (Ponsonby) and Hayden (Epsom). Section H.— Forrester (Caversham) and Johnson (Carlton). Section F. —Creswcll (Wellington) and G. Crowley (Tauranga). Section G.—lngram (Wellington) and Campbell (Ponsonby). DUNEDIN v. RETURNED SOLDIERS.
