Merinos were 5 per cent, and fine crossbreds 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, in idvancc of the 1923 closing sales. . ■ .... ■' —* BUTTER AND CHEESE. (Pkk United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 10. The figures supplied by the Dairy Division of the Agricultural Department show that the salted butter graded for December, 1922, was 184,806 cwt, and the unsaltod 10,350 cwt, compared with 162,560 cwt for December of last year—an increase of 20.Dt per cent. For the five months ended December, 1922, the respective quantities were 66!.662cwt and 48,593 cwt, compared with 498,885 cwt —an increase of 42,97 per cent. The cheese graded for December, 1922, comprised; White 136,954 cwt, coloured 74,617 cwt, compared with 199,690 cwt for December, 1921 —an increase of 5.95 per cent. The totals for the five Months ended December, 1922, were: AVbile 2H4,6BGcwt, coloured 162,958 cwt, compared with 513,865 cwt —a .decrease of 12.88 per cent. Converting these figures into butter-fat equivalent, there is an increase of 24.97 per cent, in butter-fat production for the five months as compared with the corresponding period of 1921-22.
