LOST OIL CARGO
COMPENSATION OF £97,982. LONDON, December 21. Tho Standard Oil Company of New York has recovered £97,982 and costs at the Court of Session. Edinburgh, from the Clan Steamship Line, in respect,of a cargo of nil and paraffin wax aboard tho Clan Gordon, bound from New York to China, which was lost in a smooth sea on July 30, 1920. The plaintiffs aliened that the master had improperly emptied two of the water ballast tanks,' thus altering tho ship’s equilibrium so that a nuick turn of the helm caused her to heel over and sink.
