WEATHER SUMMARY

HEAVY YEAR’S RAINFALL. During the past, year, rain fell on 165 flays, the annual fall, ns recorded by Mr IV. Jacobvsen at tho Pumping Station, Musselburgh, amounting to 28.980 in. In 1921 there wore 141 wet flays, the total fall amounting to 23.375 in, while in 1920, 21.560 in were recorded for 128 rainy clays. 1919 was a wet year, 172 rainy days accounting for an annual fall of 36.360 in. 1918 was also fairly wet, 30,340 m being recorded for 159 rainy days. The following table gives the number of wet days in each month during the past five years; —

In the same month of 1921. when--4.120in were recorded, there wore 12 wet days. The heaviest falls recorded in December. 1918. were ,840 in on the Bth. and ,740 in on the 22nd. In the saane month of 1919, ,560 in fell on the 26th; and in December, 1920. ,270 in was recorded on tho 12th. and the same fall was registered on the 31st. In December. 1921, rain fell on 12 days, the highest fall, an exceptionally heavy one, occurring on the 26th, when 1.370 in were recorded.
