An extraordinary escape from death or serious injury occurred at Edondnle tin Saturday, when Mrs and Miss Dempster, who were in a motor car, were run into by the south-bound express. They were proceeding over a level crossing, and failed to notice tho train, which crashed into them and carried them in the remains of the smashed car from the crossing to tho platform—a distance of 170 yards—before the express was pulled up. Both ladies wore still on the front of the engine when 'ho train came to a standstill, and how they escaped serious injury is a mystery to those who witnessed the occurrence.
