WATERSIDE WORKERS’ WAGES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—lf your readers had before them tho waterside workers’ rates of pay they could form a bettor opinion of the merits of the case than by reading Air Roberts’s speech, largely irrelevant. Daily rates, as quoted by him. that could stand reductions of ids, 11a, and 12s 6d were surely princely ones. The past period has admittedly been a slack one, yet the watorsiders could, and did, pick and choose, lor I remember quite distinctly an advertisement for labour at 2s 8d per hour with few vessels in port, and the response, with the assistance of the crew, was not half the vessel’s requirements.—l am, etc., A. , December 13.
